This is a great research tool to have on hand. Lee’s chapters are comprehensive and take you through every aspect of police work.

I’m not a cop so I don’t know the ins and outs of the criminal justice system. This book is filled with interesting trivia about police work, but it doesn’t really help me write a character.

ahd For some reason, at several points in the book, the word “officers” wasn’t capitalized at the beginning of a sentence. Lee gives you an insider’s view on the various police departments and training procedures.

I expected a bit more diversity in the examination of police procedure but it only focuses on the American system. In this book he explains the differences between common phrases, such as “crime scene” and “scene of the crime”, howdunif, “murder”, and “manslaughter”.
